Feud: Capote vs The Swans is the upcoming third season of the Emmy-winning anthology series Feud, created by Ryan Murphy. The show will explore the bitter rivalry between the iconic writer Truman Capote and his circle of wealthy socialites, known as the Swans, after he betrayed their secrets in his unfinished novel Answered Prayers.
Feud: Capote vs The Swans will star Ewan McGregor as Truman Capote, the author of Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood, who rose to fame and fortune with his witty and charming personality. He befriended some of the most influential women in New York society, such as Babe Paley, Slim Keith, Gloria Guinness, and Marella Agnelli, who became his confidantes and muses. However, he also exploited their trust and gossip for his scandalous roman à clef, which exposed their affairs, divorces, and scandals. The book caused a sensation and a backlash, as the Swans felt betrayed and ostracized him from their glamorous world.
The series will also feature an impressive cast of actresses to portray the Swans, including Michelle Dockery as Babe Paley, the wife of CBS founder William Paley and the leader of the Swans; Sienna Miller as Slim Keith, the ex-wife of Howard Hawks and Leland Hayward, and a style icon; Gillian Anderson as Marella Agnelli, the Italian aristocrat and widow of Fiat chairman Gianni Agnelli; and Tilda Swinton as Gloria Guinness, the Mexican-born fashionista and heiress. Other cast members include David Hyde Pierce as Bennett Cerf, Capote’s editor and publisher; Michael Stuhlbarg as Gore Vidal, Capote’s rival and critic; and Isabella Rossellini as Rosamund Lancaster, a British journalist and friend of Capote.
Based on the 2016 book The Swans of Fifth Avenue by Melanie Benjamin, as well as other sources, the story is definitely worth seeing. The show will be written by Ryan Murphy, Tom Rob Smith, and Sarita Choudhury, and directed by Murphy, Smith, and Jessica Yu. Murphy will also serve as an executive producer, along with Alexis Martin Woodall, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Ewan McGregor. The show will be produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions, and will premiere on Hulu in 2022.
Feud: Capote vs The Swans is a fascinating and tragic story of friendship, betrayal, and fame, set in the glamorous and decadent era of the 1950s and 1960s.
