Summary: The Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is the first generation of the Corvette sports car produced by Chevrolet. It was introduced late in the 1953 model year and produced through 1962. This generation is commonly called the “solid-axle” generation, as an independent rear suspension did not appear until the 1963 Sting Ray.
The Corvette was rushed into production for its debut model year to capitalize on the enthusiastic public reaction to the concept vehicle. However, expectations for the new model were largely unfulfilled. Reviews were mixed, and sales fell far short of expectations through the car’s early years. The program was nearly canceled by General Motors, but decided to make necessary improvements because Ford was developing a two-seater that became the Thunderbird.

Summary: The original Porsche 911 (pronounced nine eleven, German: Neunelfer) is a luxury sports car made by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany. A prototype of the famous, distinctive, and durable design was shown to the public in autumn 1963. Production began in September 1964 and continued through 1989. It was succeeded by a modified version, internally referred to as Porsche 964 but still sold as Porsche 911, as are current models.
Mechanically, the 911 was notable for being rear engined and air-cooled. From its inception, the 911 was modified both by private teams and the factory itself for racing, rallying and other types of automotive competition. The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful competition car ever, especially when its variations are included, mainly the powerful 911-derived 935 which won 24 Hours of Le Mans and other major sports cars races outright against prototypes.

8. **2012 Lexus LS**In a collection peppered with exotic hypercars and bespoke classics, George Clooney’s ownership of a 2012 Lexus LS might at first seem an understated choice for an A-list celebrity. However, this discerning selection perfectly illustrates another dimension of Clooney’s automotive philosophy: the desire for sophisticated anonymity. This luxury sedan, while undeniably premium, offered him a more discreet way to navigate city streets and evade the constant glare of media attention, allowing for moments of normalcy amidst his extraordinary life.
The Lexus LS has long been celebrated as a benchmark for refined luxury, offering unparalleled comfort and a whisper-quiet ride, a reputation that has endeared it to a broad spectrum of discerning individuals. It’s a brand known for its reliability and understated elegance, qualities that resonate with many, including other prominent figures like NFL legend Tom Brady. Clooney’s choice of the Lexus LS suggests a preference for substance over overt flash, a vehicle that commands respect through its intrinsic quality rather than ostentatious display.
Despite its potential for blending in, even the best-laid plans of a celebrity for anonymity can sometimes go awry. In December 2014, Clooney and his wife Amal were indeed spotted by paparazzi leaving Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood, California, driving this very Lexus LS. This sighting occurred just after the actor had fallen victim to the hacked Sony emails, highlighting the ever-present challenge of maintaining privacy even in a seemingly unassuming vehicle, adding a touch of wry “irony!” to the narrative of celebrity life.
The 2012 Lexus LS 460, with an estimated price of $67,630, embodies Japanese engineering excellence. It featured a robust 4.6-liter V8 engine, delivering a strong 380 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque, paired with a smooth 8-speed automatic transmission. This setup allowed it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a respectable 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 131 mph, ensuring effortless performance. For Clooney, the Lexus LS was more than just a car; it was a sanctuary offering a blend of quiet luxury, formidable performance, and a fleeting hope for respite from the public eye.

Summary: The Lexus LS (Japanese: レクサス・LS, Hepburn: Rekusasu LS) is a series of full-size luxury sedans that have served as the flagship model of Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota, since 1989. For the first four generations, all LS models featured V8 engines and were predominantly rear-wheel-drive. In the fourth generation, Lexus offered all-wheel-drive, hybrid, and long-wheelbase variants. The fifth generation changed to using a V6 engine with no V8 option, and only one length was offered.
As the first model developed by Lexus, the LS 400 debuted in January 1989 with the second generation debuting in November 1994. The LS 430 debuted in January 2000 and the LS 460/LS 460 L series in 2006. A domestic-market version of the LS 400 and LS 430, badged as the Toyota Celsior (Japanese: トヨタ・セルシオ, Hepburn: Toyota Serushio), was sold in Japan until the Lexus marque was introduced there in 2006. In 2006 (for the 2007 model year), the fourth generation LS 460 debuted the first production eight-speed automatic transmission and an automatic parking system. In 2007, V8 hybrid powertrains were introduced on the LS 600h/LS 600h L sedans.
Development of the LS began in 1983 as the F1 project, the code name for a secret flagship sedan. At the time, Toyota’s two existing flagship models were the Crown and Century models – both of which catered exclusively for the Japanese market and had little global appeal that could compete with international luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Jaguar. The resulting sedan followed an extended five-year design process at a cost of over US$1 billion and premiered with a new V8 engine and numerous luxury features. The Lexus LS was intended from its inception for export markets, and the Lexus division was formed to market and service the vehicle internationally. The original LS 400 debuted to strong sales and was largely responsible for the successful launch of the Lexus marque.
Since the start of production, each generation of the Lexus LS has been manufactured in the Japanese city of Tahara, Aichi. The name “LS” stands for “Luxury Sedan”, although some Lexus importers have preferred to define it as “Luxury Saloon”. The name “Celsior” is taken from Latin word “celsus”, meaning “lofty” or “elevated”.

9. **2021 Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabriolet**As George Clooney embraced a new chapter in his life, moving to an enchanting 18th-century property in France in 2021, his automotive choices continued to evolve, perfectly blending luxury with the joys of European living. The most recent and stylish addition to his esteemed collection is a magnificent 2021 Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabriolet. This convertible perfectly encapsulates the essence of open-air driving combined with high-performance German engineering, making it an ideal companion for cruising the picturesque roads of the Côte d’Azur.
While the sprawling $8.3 million spent on his French mansion might seem a grand sum to many, for an individual with an estimated $500 million in the bank, such an investment pales in comparison to his overall wealth. It was only natural, then, for Clooney to further enhance his lifestyle with a vehicle that embodies both sophisticated enjoyment and modern efficiency. Opting for the Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabriolet, an additional $84,000 indulgence, reflects his commitment to enjoying the finer things in life, especially when they offer such a “drily drive convertible” experience.
This particular model, the 2021 Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabriolet, is a masterclass in automotive design and performance. It boasts a potent 3.0-liter Turbo Inline-6 engine, complemented by a mild-hybrid system, generating an impressive 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a swift 9-speed automatic transmission, this elegant convertible can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in a brisk 4.4 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. These figures ensure that every journey is not just comfortable, but exhilarating, perfectly aligning with Clooney’s appreciation for dynamic driving.
In a charming recent public appearance, the 63-year-old actor was captured enjoying a leisurely stroll and a drive-through moment with his wife, Amal, in the stunning setting of the Côte d’Azur. George, looking effortlessly dashing in jeans, and Amal, exuding chic sophistication in a coat paired with a cap and sunglasses, embodied classic Hollywood glamour enjoying everyday pleasures. The image of George casually filling his E 53 Cabriolet at a local gas station further humanizes the star, showing his blend of relatable moments with an enviable lifestyle, all underpinned by his choice of a stylish and powerful machine.

AMG variants are usually badged with two numerals, as opposed to regular Mercedes-Benz vehicles, which have three (e.g. “E 63” as opposed to “E 350”). The numerals do not always indicate engine size, but are rather a tribute to earlier heritage cars, such as the 300 SEL 6.3 litre. For example, newer-model AMG V8s such as the E 63 actually have 4.0L V8s.
The world’s first stand-alone Mercedes-AMG dealership, AMG Sydney, was opened in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
