Ever since Helldivers 2 stormed onto Steam, the game has been a whirlwind of emotions. From the exhilaration of protecting Super Earth to the irritation of crashing problems and matchmaking blunders, it’s been a rough trip for many gamers. If you’ve found yourself among the ranks of those afflicted, take heart! There are methods to get your game working smoothly again, and I’m here to assist you through them with a sense of camaraderie and a splash of fun. So, buckle up, troops! It’s time to face these challenges head-on.
Addressing crashing errors
First things first, let’s address the elephant in the room: the dreaded crashing issues. It seems that altering your armor straight after the tutorial might put your game into a spiral. The people over at Arrowhead Games have recognized this as a known problem, so do yourself a favor and stay with your starting gear until after the first mission. Trust me, your fashion statement can wait a while longer.
Crossplay, although a fantastic feature that enables us game with our pals across platforms, is also creating some issues. If you’re running into a brick wall attempting to join a match using quickplay, consider removing crossplay in the options. It could well be the secret to get you into the action without a hitch.
For my fellow PC gamers, there’s a nifty little hack that might smooth up your starting issues. Dive into your Steam settings, select Helldivers 2 under the Controller menu, and deactivate Steam Input. It’s a little alteration, but it may be the difference between crashing and crashing into alien hordes.

Addressing AMD graphics card issues
Now, onto a more particular difficulty for my AMD graphics card folks out there. It appears that some of you are having a difficult time with crashes. Disabling anti-aliasing or rolling back your AMD upgrade to version 23.12.1 could well be your ticket to stability. And for those with Nvidia GPUs, try removing picture scaling in the Nvidia control panel to see if it helps.
Matchmaking difficulties are another significant thorn in our side. The major cure for many has been to turn off crossplay via the settings menu. This appears to relieve some of the server congestion difficulties and further crossplay problems that have been troubling Helldivers 2. And if you’re feeling extremely adventurous (or desperate), you may attempt the brute force tactic of repeating the Quick Play option or launching an SOS beacon in-game, then abandoning the session to hopefully sync up with other players upon your return.
For the frightening black screen on starting, patience can be your greatest friend. Give it a few minutes before resorting to the hard departure technique. If you’re seeking for a more proactive answer, going into the “user-settings.config” file and switching to borderless window mode might be your light at the end of the tunnel. And, as usual, validating your Steam game files is a great step to ensure that your game data is in order.

It’s evident that Helldivers 2 has struck a chord with the gaming community, gathering an army of gamers eager to promote democracy throughout the galaxy. The connection difficulties and crashing errors are sad side effects of what is otherwise a superb cooperative shooting experience. Arrowhead Games is working aggressively to smooth out these bugs, and with a little patience and a few workarounds, we can go back to doing what we do best – preserving Super Earth.
Remember, warriors, these remedies may not be the end-all-be-all, but they’re a decent starting point as we await more permanent changes from Arrowhead Games. Stay educated, keep trying various solutions, and most importantly, keep your spirits up. The struggle for Super Earth is too critical to allow a few technological obstacles stand in our way. Onward to triumph!
