People love the sea and exploring it for centuries. Paul and Lynn Montoya heard this call different though. They decided making the ocean their full-time home. This pair did not just want a temporary vacation. Their plan was to sell almost everything they had. They buy a cabin on the Villa Vie Odyssey ship. This ship is called world’s first never-ending cruise.

This choice was not made suddenly at all. It was a careful idea after realizing something big. Paul and Lynn traveled many places before this. But they saw less than young folks they knew. This made them want to see world much more. Living only on land felt too restricting for them.

They disliked packing and unpacking bags all time. Moving between hotels also seemed tiresome for them. Paul said typical travel meant fighting jet lag. Reaching some countries took days to feel normal. The ship’s steady movement changes things completely. Moving between locations is smooth and easy this way.

Paul and Lynn view their new life an adventure. They do not call it a long vacation trip. They shared this big change happening online. The title for this online story was just right. It was named ‘Lynn and Paul’s Excellent Adventure.’ Calling it a quest proves how committed they are.

Making this big step needed much money. The couple talked about the cost quite open. They bought their cabin in March last year. This news stayed private from family till Christmas. That was just few months before sailing began. Cabin cost approximately $179,000 United States dollars.

Monthly costs planned for trip are near $6,000. This large fee covers all essential living needs. It includes food, laundry, cleaning, and the ship fee. It is one predictable payment for them each month. The ship becomes floating home with services provided. This offers ease and reliable costs not always found elsewhere.

Yearly total cost for Montoyas is about $80,000. This number might sound like a large amount. But they compare it to their life before ship. Also they consider costs in certain expensive spots. They feel yearly ship expense is similar or less. Especially if they live in costly area on land.

Lynn made a good comparison about the cost. Living in California or New York cost lot. She thinks you cannot rent apartment there for $80k. People used to high city costs find this appealing. Accommodation, food, services are all included price. Lynn said it must be easy decision for them.

Living in Laramie, Wyoming had its own costs. Not expensive like coast, but not free either. They paid home taxes, upkeep, and power bills there. Also add money for travels they planned anyway. They view the $80,000 annual ship cost different. They see this as living expense, not just travel.

Money model helps make this life accessible. It is not just for only very wealthy people. Many different kind of individuals can join maybe. Lynn said Odyssey offers living quite affordably. She compared it to a retirement place like 55 plus community. This shows everything is included on ship.

But this life not only for people retired. Paul said they also target digital nomads now. Remote work increased a lot after pandemic began. Location is not stopping work for many anymore. Lynn thinks 30% of ship people work full-time. They keep jobs back home with companies.

Ship recognizes this work trend now too. Villa Vie Odyssey has vital things for remote workers. Paul said they put in a Starlink internet system. This high speed connection is important for work. Five years ago maybe was not possible anywhere. Ship also have business place for people working. There are 12 private offices you can rent each month.

Reason for this life partly came from hosting guests. They ran a bed and breakfast back in Wyoming. Guests told stories seeing far corners world. Their business demands kept them from traveling widely. Paul said running business meant no time for trips. Getting into their 60s made them want more travel.

Cabin price start lower on Odyssey ship. An inside cabin minimum cost is $129,999. Montoyas selected a cabin near $179,000 price point. Cabin costs go up to $439,999 for big suites. Monthly fees get higher with bigger rooms too. Different prices let people choose based on their money.

Beyond buying cabin and monthly fee are other plans. Montoyas also thought about possible problems arising. Paul spoke about keeping a fund for emergencies. He said planning underscores the Adventure in this life. Life at sea gives great freedom to them now. But planning for unexpected things is smart always.
