  • 1 Matcha whisk (Chasen) or a small wire whisk

  • 1 Measuring Spoons
  • 1 Serving Glass

Method

  1. Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove any lumps, ensuring a smooth texture.
  2. Add 2-3 tablespoons of hot water (around 175°F/80°C) to the sifted matcha.
  3. Using a matcha whisk (chasen) or a small wire whisk, vigorously whisk the matcha and water until a smooth, bright green, and frothy paste forms.
  4. Add the sugar to the whisked matcha and stir until fully dissolved.
  5. Fill a serving glass with ice cubes.
  6. Pour the whole milk over the ice in the glass.

  8. Stir gently to combine all ingredients before serving.

Notes

1. Quality matcha is paramount for a vibrant color and authentic flavor. Always sift your matcha powder to prevent lumps, ensuring a smooth, uniform texture.2. When whisking matcha, use water that is hot, but not boiling (around 175°F/80°C). Boiling water can scald the matcha, resulting in a bitter taste.3. Adjust the sugar to your preference; some prefer a less sweet or unsweetened latte to appreciate the matcha's natural notes. Alternatively, a touch of maple syrup or honey can be used.4. For a beautiful layered effect, pour the whisked matcha slowly over the back of a spoon onto the milk and ice, allowing it to settle before gently stirring.
