Ingredients

Main
  • ¼ cup low-fat cottage cheese
  • 1 tablespoon pepitas
  • 1 medium pear sliced

Equipment

  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Paring Knife
  • 1 Measuring Cups/Spoons
  • 1 Serving Bowl
  • 1 Spoon for serving/eating

Method

  1. Wash the pear thoroughly under cold water.
  2. Using a cutting board and a paring knife, carefully slice the pear into even, bite-sized pieces or thin wedges.
  3. Measure out ¼ cup of low-fat cottage cheese and place it into a serving bowl.
  4. Arrange the sliced pear around or on top of the cottage cheese in the bowl.
  5. Measure out 1 tablespoon of pepitas and sprinkle them evenly over the pear and cottage cheese.
  6. Serve immediately as a refreshing and nutritious snack or light starter.

Notes

1. **Pear Selection**: Choose a ripe but firm pear for the best texture contrast – juicy and sweet, but not mushy. Varieties like Bartlett, Bosc, or Anjou work wonderfully. 2. **Texture & Flavor**: For an elevated experience, lightly toast the pepitas in a dry pan for 1-2 minutes until fragrant; this brings out their nutty flavor and enhances the crunch. A tiny drizzle of high-quality honey or maple syrup can complement the sweetness of the pear and cottage cheese. 3. **Presentation**: Arrange the pear slices artfully around or on top of the cottage cheese before sprinkling the pepitas for a more appealing visual. A small sprinkle of cinnamon or a very fine grating of lemon zest can also add a subtle aromatic lift.
