  • Whipped cream for serving
  • A few dashes A few dashes Bittermens Xocolatl Mole Bitters optional; for serving

Equipment

  • 1 Coffee Brewer For freshly brewed hot coffee
  • 1 Heatproof Irish Coffee Glass or Mug Essential for proper temperature and presentation

Method

  1. Preheat your Irish coffee glass or heatproof mug by filling it with hot water, then discarding.
  2. Place the sugar cube into the preheated glass.

  8. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Achieving the perfect Irish Coffee hinges on temperature and layering. Ensure your glass is preheated, either with hot water or by resting it in the coffee brewer's warming plate, to prevent the coffee from cooling rapidly. Use high-quality, freshly brewed hot coffee, not lukewarm. The sugar cube aids in achieving the characteristic layering; stir it well until fully dissolved. For the whipped cream, it should be lightly sweetened or unsweetened to provide a beautiful contrast to the coffee and whiskey, and gently float on top using the back of a spoon for an elegant presentation. The optional mole bitters add a complex aromatic depth, enhancing the overall experience.
